Do you know what it is?

Something we saw at Goodwill.  We tried, but we couldn't make sense of it, but they had lots of them and they were packaged 4 to a set.  Any suggestions?

    yarn bobbins for a knitting machine? then again, i think everything has SOMETHING to do with yarn. lol. ~nd

    lol. They would be pretty big bobbins -- almost a foot tall, I think, but that's as good a guess as I've made!

    They look like they are made for winding something up. Perhaps christmas lights or wires?
